Getting Mature or just getting Old !

We should behave as per our age...how true is that?

Is maturity anything to do with age?

Some people think maturity comes with age; however, being a certain age does not make you a wise old sage. You really have no choice when it comes to aging; however, it takes some effort to wisely mature.

Its a funny statement that we hear very often, " Act your age".

Throughout history there have been biological benchmarks of maturity. For example, puberty has often been used as the transition point into adulthood. As societal needs have changed, so too have definitions of maturity.

Maturity is generally learned rather than instinctive. It doesn't resemble on age because, some children/ teenagers maybe more mature than some adults, this is because they understand the world differently and have probably had more experience in the hard times at an young age. Also, some people may never reach the point of maturity due to understanding issues of their selves. So maturity is not based on how old you maybe cause maturity is something that comes from your mind set .

This is why all laws based around age, and age restrictions in general, should be replaced by maturity restrictions, and you would need to be tested first to find out your level of maturity. This level would determine which laws apply to you. Eg. Whether you can drink, consent to marriage, vote (this shouldn't really be based on maturity or age either way, democracy should not be limited to those who are mature/older) and all other similar areas currently limited by age generalizations and ageist discrimination.

Hope you too would agree with me. If not, I am always open to feedback :)
